(The-Tech-Tin.Com) – Last time we discussed function over form when listing the laptops that have productivity in mind for working or studying at home. But what if you had time and money to spare on something a little more, exotic, luxurious? The GPD MicroPC asks you to put everything on hold, have an imagination, room in your pocket if willing to lighten your wallet a little bit yet one cool tiny computer.
Similar devices have been on the market for a long time, GPD being a top player in mini PCs, one of their previous iterations the GPD Pocket can be summarized as an expensive, unique, and surprisingly well-done PC that literally fits in your pocket. While the GPD Pocket is wholly applicable for almost anything, GPD maybe feels it needs to address an even more niche group of users with the GPD MicroPC.
It is purportedly targeting IT professionals that need to connect to servers remotely while not at their desks. Designed for “activity professionals and various mobile scenarios”, the device may be an IT feast, but can it also be a true replacement for senescent Windows CE devices? Like most of life’s answers, it’s yes and no As such the device seems designed to not only be smaller and more portable than the GPD Pocket, its also supposedly more tough.
Leaving away those consumers who are hard pressed to find a use for the device, early adopters and gadget addicts have also had second thoughts about the UMPC concept, owing to its rather high cost. I do love my Higole Gole1 5 inch PC. Originally booting both Android and Windows, I’ve updated Windows and deleted the Android partition. I can use it daily for web browsing, watching movies, and controlling things around my house or web space.
When deciding if and what type of mini laptop you should get, it is important to know what you would like to do with it first of all, and the limitations they come with. For being able to have Windows 10 in the palm of my hand is incredibly handy, it is also incredibly small. In short, devices like this are fun and functional in the right situations.
